What are flat needles and what are they used for?
Flat needles (FL) consist of multiple needles soldered side by side in a straight line. This construction makes them especially suitable for a variety of techniques, such as:
- Shading
- 3D effects
- Chiaroscuro (light-dark contrasts)
- Blending (soft transitions)
- Gradation (smooth color gradients)
Flats are true all-rounders. They can deposit large amounts of pigment and, when used at a 90° angle, allow for precise shading.
They are ideal for:
- Bold lines and contours (especially when working back and forth)
- Reinforcing line work
Each Kwadron PMU Optima cartridge is individually packed in sterile, hygienic, single-use packaging.
Kwadron PMU Optima 35/4FLPT – What do the symbols mean?
35 = Needle diameter: 0.35 mm
4FL = 4 flat needles, meaning four needles arranged side by side in a single row
PT = Point Taper – double-sharpened needle with 2.5 mm taper length
→ In addition to the regular taper, the tip is sharpened again at a more obtuse angle, allowing the needle to enter the skin more gently – ideal for soft transitions and 3D effects.
What makes Kwadron PMU Optima Cartridges special?
- Medical-grade plastic housing: Extremely durable and abrasion-resistant – prevents plastic particles from entering the skin, reducing the risk of inflammation
- Integrated protective membrane: Prevents fluids from entering the device, stabilizes the needle, and ensures precise, safe operation
- Extra-sharp needles: Deliver excellent accuracy, minimize skin trauma, and result in better healing outcomes
In short:
The Kwadron PMU Optima 35/4FLPT cartridge is perfect for powerful yet gentle shading, color gradients, 3D effects, and bold lines – with maximum control and pigment delivery.
